ASPI is dedicated to research and education in our four focus areas: Energy, Local Foods, Culture, and Ecosystems.
Each year ASPI develops one new Professional Development workshop and registers it with the Kentucky Department of Education.
Popular workshops from the past may be retained on the schedule or requested.
In 2016 ASPI will bring Professional Development Workshops to YOUR SCHOOL!
You can decide:
We have programs for each specific grade level - you can invite all 4th (or K, or 2nd, etc.) grade science teachers in the county to attend.
OR
We will present the workshop for K-5, building on language arts and math standards in each grade level.
The Sun Runs the Woods K-5
Teach students how to create their own models of the food web, identifying all the parts and how they interact. Engage students in scientific questioning and creating hypotheses, all while teaching the content knowledge of life science – from sunlight to photosynthesis and carnivores to decomposers! Engage students beyond the food web string activity! Activities are ready-to-implement and appropriate for all elementary grade levels.
ALL NEW - Engineering in Elementary K-5
The new science standards emphasize collecting and analyzing data, creating experiments and designs, and evaluating and altering proposed solutions. Learn researched-based methods to help your students develop the skills needed to complete these scientific processes. Activities are ready-to-implement and teach life, Earth, and physical science content, while practicing scientific problem-solving. Take home all new activities as well as the ability to rejuvenate your tried-and-true curricula to meet the new standards.
We strive to maintain affordability for our services and work to obtain grant and private funding to provide you with the best research-based programs.
Workshops are 2 hours with a maximum of 15 participants.
$250.00/workshop
