Our work with Appalachian Culture has been with people in the local communities. We have always used local photographers and Appalachian themes for the Simple Lifestyles Calendar. We have collected vast technical and cultural resources over the years, including original publications like the technical papers available with our on-site educational demonstrations. We offer several open houses and workshops each season, with contributions from local experts on sustainable and simple living subjects.

Education: We want to ensure that the important and timeless information in technical papers and books is preserved and made useful. We partner with organizations like the University of Kentucky Appalachian Center and the Kentucky Oral History Commission to sponsor events and projects that focus on topics about sustainable and simple living in Appalachia.

Community Outreach: We work with many people through our educational programs. We sponsor events where people can talk about local cultural issue like Ginseng, a subject ASPI has been exploring for years.

Demonstrations: Low-cost and efficient technologies are the backbone of what we do. We are working to get local artisans to feature their work at our demonstration sites.

Calendar: Our calendar is still the heart of who we are! We continue to be busy expanding our reach with this beautiful cultural piece!
